Charlie Simpson @ St Pancras Station, London

Last night I was back at St Pancras Station for some more Station Sessions gigs.

Charlie Simpson was on the concourse - and he was brilliant!  He played a half hour set and drew one of the biggest crowds I've seen down there so far - was fun!  Loved his song 'Sundown' (which he dedicated to Steve Jobs of Apple who very sadly recently passed away), a few people in the audience shed a tear at that one - a beautiful song.

A night at the Royal Albert Hall

This week I had the pleasure of working with some great people backstage at the Royal Albert Hall for a classical music event ('dream team' you know who you are!).  It's not every day that I get to snap this kinda thing, so it was cool for a change.  I love the Royal Albert Hall - it's a fantastic venue for both watching gigs as well as taking photo's.

Here's a shot from the night.....

Also this week I snapped a gig in a car park, which was great fun.  Then a few days later I snapped a band on a tiny little island in the middle of the Thames, which you could only reach by rowing boat - I was a little anxious as camera's and water don't mix!!  It was such a great day and as it was so hot at the end of the shoot the band jumped into the river!!

Vintage Trouble @ St Pancras Station, London

Vintage Trouble (c) Debbie Smyth 2011
So when I heard Vintage Trouble were back in town and playing an acoustic set in London's St Pancras station I jumped at the chance to go and snap them.  These guys are amazing live.

It was a little odd snapping them on a station concourse with lot's of commuters running past to catch their tubes/trains/Eurostar, but hey, I've snapped in weirder locations!

They played a half hour set and drew quite a crowd, who were all shouting for more when it came to an end, but sadly the station security said no more and pulled the plug.  The band were so energetic that you almost forgot it was an acoustic set!!  Brilliant!

Also performing on the concourse that evening (sounds so weird!) was the very talented and very entertaining Marcus Bonfanti, who went down a storm.

All in all, that's the most fun I've had at St Pancas station, EVER!

:-)

Somerset House Series

Hello again!

From 7th July - 17th July I was down at Somerset House for the 'Summer Series'.

This year I worked directly with Somerset House adding a few photo's from each night to their facebook gallery, of which you can see images on the following link:

µSomerset House Summer Series Gallery

This years line-up included: The Eels, Professor Green, Stornoway, Aloe Blacc, Imelda May, Beady Eye, Blondie, Dionne Bromfield, Hurts, Ellie Goulding, Lamb, My Morning Jacket, Ed Drewitt, Cloud Control, Jesca Hoop, Yasmin, Gaggle, The Knocks, He Who Wishes, Delilah and The Head & the Heart.

Thankfully we were really lucky with the weather this year as it didn't rain once!

It was great to see all the crew down at Somerset House and catch up with many, many friends I haven't seen for a while - and thanks to Somerset House for all the drinks tokens for the VIP bar!

I look forward to next year!

Latest News

Hello!  I've not had much time to blog recently, but will try to make an effort to do so more often - have been too busy running around snapping!

Quick update, was at Wembley Stadium a couple of weeks ago covering the Capital Radio Summertime Ball,  lots of fun, lots of running around - and lots and lots of rain!!!  Luckily I was snapping backstage for most of the time, but I did venture out into the rain to snap Jessie J, Jennifer Lopez, Enrique Inglesias & Ne Yo doing their thang.  Here are a few pics from the event: Capital Radio Summertime Ball

This week sees the start of the Somerset House Series which runs from 7-17 July.  It's one of the most beautiful locations for open air gigs in London, set within the historic courtyard (where they have the ice rink in winter).  I love these gigs, I look forward to them every year.

This years line-up includes: The Eels, Professor Green, Stornoway, Aloe Blacc, Imelda May, Beady Eye, Blondie, Hurts, Ellie Goulding, Lamb & My Morning Jacket.

Am currently sitting outside in glorious sunshine - so I'm really hoping it'll stay this way in time for Thursday!!!  pleeeeeease!!!

Will blog again soon - bye! x
